European Adventure - Day 9 - From Ballyvaughan to Killarney (wash out so no Ring of Kerry - very disappointed)

Well we had high hopes for this day! Our plan was to leave Ballyvaughan at 9am and get into Killarney for lunch, and then spend the afternoon driving the Ring of Kerry! The weather had other plans.. It was freezing, raining and so dangerous driving. We made the decision to get to Killarney for lunch then reassess whether we should attempt to drive the Ring of Kerry (which is 110 miles of narrow roads with lots of tour buses). We ended up at an italian restaurant in Killarney for lunch and made the decision to go straight to the hotel afterwards and not attempt the drive. Thank goodness we did - the weather was crazy! We were quite disappointed but know we will be back to Ireland one day (hopefully in the next few years), so will put it as a definite on the list then.

I did start the day with a lovely run around Ballyvaughan which was a definite highlight. I ran a little of the Burren Way, but it was so muddy I turned around and just ran around the village.

Here are some pics from that day. You will see the snow on the top of the mountains - it was very hard to capture but there were some mountain peaks covered but because the cloud was so low you couldn't make out the difference between the snow and the cloud... just gorgeous but SUPER chilly!
