Bone 2 Run Penang

I did a 5.5km walk on Sunday pushing Declan in my new Bob Revolution Running Pram. It was lovely to get out and my goal is to start actually running with the pram!! The run called "Bone 2 Run" was in aid of Bone Cancer, and it was lovely to do something for such an important cause. Declan was perfect, and even fell asleep towards the end of the walk. :)

Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh to Penang - Day 10

We headed home today!! I didn't get many pics as we were just travelling - just Declan, Keenan & myself in the van on the way to the airport!!! It was a great holiday and we are definitely going to be heading back to Vietnam as we loved it. Isabel and I are thinking of heading to Hoi An for her birthday next year, and we want to do Hanoi / Sapa / Halong Bay sometime in the next 2 years. We will probably combine that with Cambodia & Laos. I highly recommend coming to Vietnam if you can!

Vietnam - Mekong Delta - Day 9

Today we drove out to the Mekong River for our Mekong Delta Cruise and lunch excursion. It was a wet day so we were pretty fortunate we didn't get caught in it too much! We travelled on a big boat down the river to a little traditional village where we saw how they make coconut candy and they had snacks in bottles which was a bit freaky! We swapped over to little canoes to be taken through the canals. It was pretty cool and showed us how the Vietnamese fishing village people live. We had a snack in a village and were serenaded by a lady and a few men singing. After watching them and having our snack we were back on the bus on the way to lunch, which was a 5 course meal included in our tour in a restaurant on the way back to Ho Chi Minh City. I am not a big fan of eating fish that is still in one piece, but this fish was cooked beautifully. We had rice paper rolls (which I love) and a few other delicacies which were great. We were all very full when we finished lunch!

After our lunch we headed back to the hotel where we had a rest and then headed out for a walk around the city to grab some dinner. We ended up grabbing another Bahn Mi and having a quiet night in the hotel as Declan was tired and needed rest. It was a great way to spend our last night in Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnam - Cu Chi Tunnels - Day 8

One of our highlights from our trip to Vietnam has to be the visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels. It is something BJ and I have always wanted to do, and knew it would be great for the kids to see and learn about. It was quite eye opening, and scary to think of how the VC lived in the tunnels. So insane - and smart - I was really impressed how they managed to camouflage the area and also not make it obvious where kitchens were. I am a little claustrophobic so I volunteered to look after Declan while BJ and the kids crawled through the longest tunnel. They enjoyed it but said it was a bit scary when it was pitch black!
