Last year I took part in the Warrior Bootcamp Penang's Warrior Operation Transformation to help me shed my baby weight - see here for the final weigh in post: - http://eatrunparent.blogspot.my/2015/06/challenge-week-8-and-final-weigh-in
In the 8 weeks I managed to lose 8kg and get back to a healthy weight of 66kg and felt amazing..... Well the challenge is starting again and I am doing it again... as our Christmas in Europe has my weight back nearly up to my start weight from last year!!!
Instead of me getting down about it, I am going to use it as a starting point, and get focused.
Now I have my thermomix my plan is to blog each day with my daily food with recipes, and daily exercise (and steps from my fitbit). Exercise will be a combo of 4 x bootcamp sessions per week and 2 x boxing sessions.
I will check back in on 16 April when I do my weigh in and when the challenge starts!!
Wish me luck!

Penang Bridge International Marathon - Half Marathon
I did it!!
Super happy after a month away that I managed to finish the half marathon, and beat my previous time by a fair bit!! It was a 3.15am start which was a bit nuts, but that mean't I was home by 7am. It was very lucky I was back by 7am as Declan decided to wake up for BJ at 3:45am and stay awake until I got home. He was NOT happy and didn't want to settle for anyone except Mumma. As soon as I had a quick shower I fed him and we all went back to bed until 11.30! So that is a winning situation there! LOL
The run was pretty good - the course was boring though - mainly on the main road - so lots of cement, and since it was the early morning no light - so all dark and boring. The bridge was only the last 8km or so which was not really what I expected.

Automall 10km - Penang
I signed up for the Automall 10km since I was trying to do as many runs in Penang. This run wasn't too bad - it went through Georgetown - but as per normal in Malaysia they didn't close the roads so some parts were a bit hairy! I was happy to do it and pretty happy with my time since it's been a while since I've run 10km.

Justice League Run - Recap
The Justice League Fun Run was a great run. We had the option of entering as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman or the Green Lantern. I entered as Wonder Woman which wasn't terribly original! If this run is on next year I am going to enter as Superman as the shirt was better!
I was pretty happy I ran the entire 8km (app didn't work!), it was around 50 minutes which I was pretty happy with!
We headed over to Mugshot to get a bite for breakfast after. It was crazily busy so I had some yoghurt with nuts which was yummy, then after I got home had poached eggs and salmon for lunch! That was even better!!

Dreamz for Nepal Run Recap
This run was held at Straits Quay. My phone seemed to pause the app for around 500 metres, so my official 5km run was around 32 minutes - pretty happy with that. As per normal Penang runs I did a lot of weaving around people who stop right in front to walk.
I got home, had a shower and poached eggs with avocado for breakfast, and then chilled on the couch with this little guy for the rest of the day. The big kids watched a few movies with us which was lovely. No better way to spend a Sunday then a run followed by quality family time.

Bone 2 Run Penang
I did a 5.5km walk on Sunday pushing Declan in my new Bob Revolution Running Pram. It was lovely to get out and my goal is to start actually running with the pram!! The run called "Bone 2 Run" was in aid of Bone Cancer, and it was lovely to do something for such an important cause. Declan was perfect, and even fell asleep towards the end of the walk. :)

Penang Bridge Half Marathon 2015
I did it!!! Declan is 4 months old and I managed to complete another half marathon! Feeling stoked!!
I woke at 1am to start getting ready and to feed Declan before we were getting picked up at 3am. We had arranged a taxi with another runner from Penang to get us to the starting line. Was such a smart move. We also arranged to get the driver to pick us up at the end and we paid him the full amount when we got back. I will always do this- as it guarantees the driver will be waiting as they want their money!
So the Half Marathon started 4.30am and we were amongst a sea of runners. It was quite warm but not too bad thank goodness.
The run itself wasn't too bad. We did have a bit of a long toilet stop after about 5km which was unavoidable! We had another toilet stop around 12km I think which just showed I drank way too much water beforehand!
From 10km on we walked/jogged the rest of the way and finished in 2 hrs 52 mins, which I was really happy with! Ideally without the toilet stops and a bit more training our goal would've been under 2 hrs 30.. but really to finish was just the best thing!
We were home by 8am, had showers and rested then headed down to Khaleels on Gurney Drive for rotis & ice cream for breakfast to celebrate!

Yay!! 1kg off!!
Declan is much better thank goodness. Last week I managed all the bootcamp sessions, plus a 5km run, Moongate climb and a few shorter walks with Declan in the pram. Feeling motivated!! Now to work on my food and making sure I keep track of what I am eating a bit more strictly.. and no more ordering coffee to be delivered! Living in Penang is quite dangerous when it comes to what they deliver.. namely everything!

Week 2 check in weight: 71kg
Week 3 check in weight: 69.5kg

The last week was just terrible - Declan was ill and we were at the hospital several times, so I didn't get much PT in. I did manage to do a 10.5km run and one bootcamp session last Monday, but that's it! So I am not surprised at all with my gain. Let's hope next week is on the way down. Thankfully Declan is a bit better now.

Week 3 check in
Start weight: 74kg
Week 1 check in weight: 73kg
Week 2 check in weight: 71kg
Week 3 check in weight: 69.5kg
I think I am going to struggle to lose weight next Monday since I have been losing it so steadily but I will see how I go. Declan is still unwell so we are off to a different Doctor tomorrow to hopefully get a second opinion. He has the worst cough and sounds like he is choking when he has a coughing fit. It is just awful.
This week I managed to do all my bootcamp sessions, 2 x moongate hikes (lots of stairs) and a 6km run. So pretty happy with that!

Challenge - Week 2 check in
Week 2 check in
Start weight: 74kg
Week 1 check in weight: 73kg
Week 2 check in weight: 71kg
Super happy how this week went with a 2kg weight loss!
I managed 3 x bootcamp sessions, 1 x run and 3 long walks with Declan in the pram. I have stuck to my calories on myfitnesspal and loving having something to focus on. Happy that the children are back at school so I can really get into exercise. Declan is unwell though so we headed to the doctor today before weigh in (so I will be doing bootcamp tonight to make up for it) and he has a cough, so hopefully the medicine will kick in soon. So awful seeing such a little bubba sick.

Warrior Operation Transformation - 8 Week Challenge
I am so excited to be starting this challenge!! This morning I went to the introductory session. Our weight and measurements were taken and before pictures! I didn't get a copy of my before pic but hopefully at the end I might be able to get a copy of my before and after pics so I have them for comparison! I was pretty happy with my stats since it is so soon since I had Declan. I have around 6kg to lose to get back into my healthy weight range, and I am already in the average range for body fat.
Start weight = 74kg
Goal weight = 66kg
My goals for the challenge are to:
1. Lose weight - goal is to lose at least 6kg to get to 68kg which is the top of my healthy weight range. I am really hoping I get to 66kg so then I only have a few more kg to go after that to get to my happy weight that I can easily maintain.
2. Lose inches - I want to get leaner - So even more so than weight I want to get leaner and fit into my old clothes!!
3. Lose bodyfat - My body fat was measured at 30% - and the average body fat % for women is between 25-31%, so I am just in the average range. My goal is to get into the fit range which is 19-25%. Even 24.9% I would be really happy with!
4. Improve my running and endurance - Since I have so many runs planned for this year I of course want this challenge to help with my endurance, fitness and running. I am sure it will - but this is a goal as well so I keep it in mind!
So Day 1 involved the intro session as I wrote above. It was fantastic. It really motivated me to think about food using the knowledge I have as well as the documentation the coaches from the challenge gave me. I have 1800 calories per day to eat since I am breastfeeding - thank goodness!
After dinner tonight my children, a lovely friend and I went for a 3km walk around Straits Quay here in Penang and it was lovely except it started to storm, so at the end we had to sprint back to the shopping centre to avoid the downpour! It showed we need to walk a bit earlier - so next time we meet up we will walk before dinner! Straits Quay is lovely for anyone wanting to visit Penang!
I'll be checking in every 2 weeks with an update!

Healthy Lifestyle..
Since I have had Declan I must admit our eating habits have been a little bad, and we haven't been terribly active which I guess is part and parcel with having a new baby! Now he is 8 weeks old it is time to step things up, and we have all agreed as a family that we are going to be healthier, and more active.
So as such, I am taking part in "Warrior Operation Transformation" which is an 8 week bootcamp program starting tomorrow with Warrior Boot Camp here in Penang. It basically encompasses 8 weeks of unlimited Bootcamp sessions, personalised assessments, nutritional guidance and diet planning. Tomorrow morning I have the first session which is where we do our initial measurements and weigh in and find out all the info. I am pretty excited!! Here is the brochure and details.
So since I am doing this program we decided as a family that it would be good to try to get the whole family healthier and fitter in 8 weeks. So some of the little things we will be doing are:
* Lunches will be packed everyday for school - which will be all healthy foods - so berries / yoghurt for morning tea, protein & salad wraps for lunch and a piece of fruit of the last break. I will make some healthy snacks to include - home made muesli bars / bliss balls etc as well.
* Each night we will be having salad / veggies with some sort of protein - either chicken, fish, pork etc. No packaged foods at all.
* Each night we will be doing a family walk. If the weather is terrible I will find something for us to do inside.. either a fun game on the XBOX that is active or the kids can do a fun exercise DVD with me. I am going to ensure we are active EVERYDAY. It is so tough living in an apartment for 3 pre-teen kids. They want to be active, but it can be difficult.. so it is up to us as their parents to make sure we give them the opportunity.
* When school returns they will be doing 3 sports a week for after school activities, as well as their normal swimming lessons. One of those after school sports will hopefully be swimming as I would like them to do even more swimming.
* I am going to ensure I get them to the pool on Saturday and Sunday to wear off some energy and get out of the apartment. It is so easy for me to have them stay inside, especially with Declan, but it is not the best thing for them. So even if Declan is sleeping I will make sure one of us takes them down for a swim.
The kids are pretty excited about walking every night so we are heading to a Sports shop tomorrow that is quite cheap to buy some new sports clothing so they feel and look the part! It is after all how you look according to my children!
I will be posting each day what food we are eating and all about our progress starting tomorrow!
Wish us luck!!

First post-baby run
Yesterday I got the all clear from my obstetrician at my 6 week post-birth appointment to run again! Crazily I was very excited.
So I decided to hit the ground running - really - and headed out to Gurney Drive tonight to attempt 2.4km without stopping. I made it but won't be running out there too often at night... You can picture it I'm sure - lots of pedestrians strolling along and blocking the path and cars zooming by so I couldn't go on the road. My time wasn't the best but hey I just had a baby and was dodging people.. so all up I think I did ok!!
I am feeling great to get back into my running.. just need to buy some new running gear that fits properly as all my pre-baby stuff not surprisingly is a little small!! Let's hope it doesn't take me too long to fit into it.

Run 2015 in 2015!
As you all know I can get a little bit crazy about fitness and when I commit to a challenge I go into it head first. So just before New Years Keenan and I found a challenge called "Run 2015 (miles) in 2015" by Run The Edge. Even though it says "Run" in the title it actually includes walking too (thank goodness), so Keenan and I decided to commit to the challenge along with my friend Cynthia - and we will be doing it via distance as Cynthia is in Australia! 2015 miles equates to 3242.83km which as a team of three works out to just under 3km each per day. Obviously at the moment I am quite tired and sore so haven't logged any distance yet - but Keenan and I are planning on heading out for a walk today to get it started. Cynthia has already done a fair bit of walking/running so will hopefully have us a little ahead! I know after bub arrives I will be walking my heart out so will have no issues getting the kms in and the kilos off! :-)
If you see the options above we are a "Three Amigos" team! We don't log the first lot of kms until the end of January when we also register our team name, so have a little while to go and need to figure out a good team name! :-)
I like the idea of having staggered distances for each team member as Cynthia will be able to log more distances initially as she is very fit and active and not nearly 9 months pregnant, and once I am back fit and healthy I will be able to log a fair few and Keenan can log distance when he get a chance around school and his commitments. I like that Keenan won't feel pressured by having anything set in stone! Saying that Keenan is super keen so would be happy to do big walks / jogs every day - I am just too tired! :-)
So if you want to join in to the challenge please head to RunTheEdge which is at http://www.runtheedge.com/2014/12/run-2015-in-2015-challenge/ and sign up!
I will be tracking all our walks here on the blog and have a counter that I will update at the end of each month with our teams kms to hopefully keep us on track! :)
Keenan and I are going to do our first walk this morning, so I will be back later to post the details! :)
If you see the options above we are a "Three Amigos" team! We don't log the first lot of kms until the end of January when we also register our team name, so have a little while to go and need to figure out a good team name! :-)
