European Adventure - Day 14 - Rome

We had an awesome second full day in Rome. This morning we all slept in as we had a late night last night watching the second Hunger Games movie. :) So first up this morning our goal was to find a laundromat near our apartment - thankfully we found one just around the corner on "Vicolo Delle Grotte" which was right next to Piazza di Campo de Fiori. We did walk around a bit before we found this one as I had details for another one, which we couldn't find. We loaded up two washers - costing 4 euro each, and set the timer for 40 mins. While they were washing we went to a little cafe in the square and had a hot drink each (as it was pouring with rain). :) It was lovely to sit and just enjoy the atmosphere. Not a cheap outing - 21 Euro - so approx AUD$31, but well worth it. BJ gave the waiter 50 euro as that is all he had to pay the bill and it was funny how long it took him to bring the change.. I am sure they just wait to see if you wait around for it or if they can pocket the change. After our hot drink we headed back to the laundromat and put the washing in two dryers - at 4.50 euro per dryer, so quite affordable. They only take 30 mins, so BJ took the kids back to our flat, and i went for a stroll around the piazza. I didn't find anything I wanted though, so ended up just heading back to wait for the dryers to finish. It was amazing after 30 mins how dry everything was - I want one of their washers and dryers in my house!! 40 mins wash, and 30 mins dry would make my life so much easier!

So after I was back home with our mountains of clean washing we decided to start our day of exploring. First on the agenda was walking past the Vatican. I have been to the Vatican before, and BJ & the kids weren't keen on heading inside, so we just walked past outside.

After visiting the Vatican we walked past the Castel Sant'Angelo towards the Spanish Steps.. then onto Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the Piazza Navona. It was a beautiful walk around Rome and we just loved all our time here in Rome.

Tonight I cooked dinner in our apartment since we have to be up early tomorrow, and straight after dinner the kids and i walked to the local gelateria to have a gelato each for dessert. :)
Tomorrow morning we are heading to Pisa (should be there in time for a picnic lunch), then after that onto Florence for tomorrow night.
