European Adventure - Day 3 - London

Saturday in London!! :) We arranged to meet up with our friends Lindsay & David (& their girls Cara & Leah) at 9am at Lancaster Gate station right near our apartment. This was great as it gave us a bit of time to get organised for the day (and me to go for my run!).

After yesterday's Hop On Hop Off debacle where it took us so long to get to only a few stops we thought that the train was definitely the way to go. We were quite impressed with it - so easy, and so quick! If we ever come back to London (hopefully!), we will just get train passes and use our feet!

The plans for the day were to catch the train to Charing Cross station which is the closest station to Trafalgar Square and then walk from there to check everything out.. and if we got too tired we could always get on the train. So in order we checked out Trafalgar Square, wandered past Downing Street, then checked out Big Ben, Parliament Square, went on the London Eye, and then walked down past Buckingham Palace / St James Park / Green Park / Hyde Park and past Harrods to check out the Natural History Museum. All up the kids walked 10.5km (I wore my Garmin to check how far), so needless to say they are already in bed fast asleep and it's not yet 8pm. We ducked home around 3pm so that we could have a rest before meeting Lindsay & David at Nandos at Notting Hill for dinner. It was lovely to meet up for an easy dinner that didn't cost the earth. :) Here are the pics of today:
