European Adventure - Day 21 - Wengen to Paris

We are in Paris!!!

Today we caught 4 trains to get to Paris, and left our chalet just after 7am. The journey was as follows:

7am - left chalet and walked to Wengen station - took about 30 mins, and lots of whining as we were all carrying our packs. We knew the kids could manage, and saved ourselves 25 Swiss Francs - so around A$30. Then we caught Wengen - Lauterbrunnen train, Lauterbrunnen - Interlaken Train, Interlaken - Basel Train, then we had a snack at Basel station, and caught the TGV to Paris. It was all rather painless and we were lucky enough to be a in a private group/family section on the TGV with 8 seats for the 5 of us, so lots of spreading out. I slept the majority of the 3 hours so that was good! :)

Once we arrived in Paris - at Paris-Gare De Lyon station we had to get ourselves to the station close to our apartment which is Sentier. So we caught the following trains (which I had figured out the night before) - Paris Gare De Lyon - Nation, Nation - Republique, Republique - Sentier. We only had 1-2 mins waiting for each train, and once we got off at Sentier we had directions to our apartment and made it in about 10 mins walking... easy peasy! The apartment is on the 5th floor (no lift), so lots of complaining up the stairs, but it is so sweet! It is a little loft (all one room), with a bathroom and kitchen. All the necessities are here - kitchen with hot plates / microwave / lots of supplies, washing machine & dryer combo, free wifi, gorgeous windows that open up to the roof (as we are in the rafters of the building! It is truly just gorgeous!!

We went out for dinner tonight to a little burger place called "Burger Bistro" down on Rue Montorgueil. It was lovely and not too bad at 67 Euro for the total. That is quite cheap for 5 of us. We stopped at the grocery store on the way home to get breakfast supplies, fruit, some bottled water and snacks for tomorrow. We are taking our own lunch - so when I am out running tomorrow I will drop in at a boulangerie to grab some fresh bread, and croissants to take along. I am glad we can take our own food as I have read the Disney food can be 20 Euro+ each for lunch which is just ridiculous. I do remember when we went to Universal Studios in Singapore it was pricey, so we are happy we can hopefully avoid it. We are planning on being there all day so will need to get dinner, but will probably get that just outside the park where there are cheaper options.

Here are some pics from today:
