Lost World of Tambun

We decided to head to the Lost World of Tambun in Ipoh for a day trip.

I did check Trip Advisor and some of the comments were "nothing like Universal Studios but ok for a day trip".. so needless to say I tried to not have terribly high expectations.

Here we are at the front gate:

Map of the park

The pirate ship - everyone went on while Dec and I watched

The Boat Swing - Aunty Bea looked after Declan while we all went on this one. It actually got quite high and freaked me out LOL - I am a big wuss when it comes to heights.

The Tigers!

Isabel, Declan and me

The watersides and the lazy river

Pros of The Lost World of Tambun:

* Very quiet during the school term - there was hardly anyone there
* Friendly staff
* Great water slides and water play area for the children
* Heaps of parking and good facilities.
* Very affordable

Negatives:

* Quite small - only a few rides, and the roller coaster was not open which was a big disappointment
* You have to rent the tubes for the lazy river and the wave pool - this was a bit of a con and really disappointed us. Also it was not detailed anywhere so lots of people got to the start of the lazy river (including us) and looked around for the tubes to be told we had to go back to the rental area.. which was a bit of a walk! Better communication in this area would be great.
* Very little shade - Malaysia is hot hot hot - and it would've been better with more shade.

All in all we had a good day away from Penang - only 2 hours each way which wasn't too bad as we were expecting it to be longer with traffic. I would recommend people go to the Lost World of Tambun, but not to expect it to be like Adventure Cove waterpark in Singapore with the waterslides as it is nowhere like that.. but then it isn't in Singapore so that is to be expected.
