I am already in love with Hoi An!
This morning we started with an awesome buffet breakfast. It was just amazing eating overlooking the river and pool. Our guide Peter picked us up at 9.30am and drove us into Hoi An to have a go at lantern making! It was so much fun.
After we finished at the lantern making class we went for a walk around Hoi An. We checked out the Japanese Bridge, the Japanese and Chinese temples and had a look at a few tailors shops where BJ ordered a suit, leather shoes and a belt.
We went out for lunch to a little corner restaurant overlooking the river called Banana Leaf. It was lovely and the staff were in love with Declan - which was a recurring theme all over Vietnam.
After lunch we kept walking around Hoi An. We found some awesome Vietnamese hats which was one of my "must buys" and ran into Cyn and Adam at a store. We made plans to catch up with them for dinner again.
We then headed back to the resort to have a rest and a swim.
After resting up and having showers we headed back into Hoi An to meet up with Cyn and Adam, and for me to try on the dresses I had ordered. I decided to order another 3 items as well. I just love the clothes in Hoi An - just amazing and so cheap!
5 minutes after we got back to the hotel from the restaurant - this was Declan.

Vietnam - Penang to Hoi An - Day 1
We were up at stupid o'clock ready for our taxi to take us to the airport. Our plane was due to leave at 7am - so that explains it all really! Getting 6 people to the airport by 5.30am is hard work.. but we made it. After we got to the airport we found out our plane was delayed so we decided to have a drink at McDonalds.

After travelling for a fair while - Penang-Kuala Lumpur, then Kuala Lumpur-Ho Chi Minh City, then Ho Chi Minh City-Da Nang we finally arrived at Da Nang airport. Declan was the best little traveller - any whinging was only a minute or so - as soon as had a dummy or milk he was content. He slept for the majority of each flight. When we arrived in Da Nang we met our Trails of Indochina tour guide Peter who picked us up and took us on a quick drive by the Chams Museum and around Da Nang. Afterwards he took us to our hotel which was the Hoi An Beach Resort which was lovely. We had a quick dip in the pool and Declan had his first swim ever!
That night we went into Hoi An for a walk around and met up with our lovely friends Cynthia and Adam, and BJ and I were both fitted for some new clothes!

Penang Bridge Half Marathon 2015
I did it!!! Declan is 4 months old and I managed to complete another half marathon! Feeling stoked!!
I woke at 1am to start getting ready and to feed Declan before we were getting picked up at 3am. We had arranged a taxi with another runner from Penang to get us to the starting line. Was such a smart move. We also arranged to get the driver to pick us up at the end and we paid him the full amount when we got back. I will always do this- as it guarantees the driver will be waiting as they want their money!
So the Half Marathon started 4.30am and we were amongst a sea of runners. It was quite warm but not too bad thank goodness.
The run itself wasn't too bad. We did have a bit of a long toilet stop after about 5km which was unavoidable! We had another toilet stop around 12km I think which just showed I drank way too much water beforehand!
From 10km on we walked/jogged the rest of the way and finished in 2 hrs 52 mins, which I was really happy with! Ideally without the toilet stops and a bit more training our goal would've been under 2 hrs 30.. but really to finish was just the best thing!
We were home by 8am, had showers and rested then headed down to Khaleels on Gurney Drive for rotis & ice cream for breakfast to celebrate!
