Today we drove out to the Mekong River for our Mekong Delta Cruise and lunch excursion. It was a wet day so we were pretty fortunate we didn't get caught in it too much! We travelled on a big boat down the river to a little traditional village where we saw how they make coconut candy and they had snacks in bottles which was a bit freaky! We swapped over to little canoes to be taken through the canals. It was pretty cool and showed us how the Vietnamese fishing village people live. We had a snack in a village and were serenaded by a lady and a few men singing. After watching them and having our snack we were back on the bus on the way to lunch, which was a 5 course meal included in our tour in a restaurant on the way back to Ho Chi Minh City. I am not a big fan of eating fish that is still in one piece, but this fish was cooked beautifully. We had rice paper rolls (which I love) and a few other delicacies which were great. We were all very full when we finished lunch!
After our lunch we headed back to the hotel where we had a rest and then headed out for a walk around the city to grab some dinner. We ended up grabbing another Bahn Mi and having a quiet night in the hotel as Declan was tired and needed rest. It was a great way to spend our last night in Ho Chi Minh City.
